Re: Governor Whitmer
What Am I Thinking?
Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan sent an email under the banner of “Protecting Fundamental Freedom.” The message extolled the virtues of abortion and purported to represent a majority of Michiganders who support it. Ironically, Whitmer claimed she will “keep fighting to make our state a welcoming place where anyone can envision a future.” It’s hard to have a future when you’re murdered in the womb.
This is both my rebuttal to and my rallying cry against that letter. I won’t sugarcoat my words. I implore everyone with a conscience to vehemently oppose the evil of abortion with every fiber of your being.
Abortion is not freedom, Governor
Firstly, the notion that it’s a ‘Fundamental Freedom’ to kill a child one month before birth is as absurd as claiming it’s a right to drown that child one month after birth. What separates the intrinsic value of these children? If society condones the former, how can it condemn the latter? Aren’t both children equally human, experiencing the unimaginable horror of having their young lives abruptly ended? Furthermore, where do you draw the line? At what stage in gestation does a child gain personhood? If you think you can answer that, you had better be absolutely certain before legislating or supporting laws that subject thousands of preborn children to death.
Repent, Michigan
If you’ve had, participated in, or advocated for the atrocity of abortion, your sole recourse is repentance. Turn 180 degrees and seek forgiveness from the God who fashioned you, a pardon made possible by the sacrificial death of His Son, Jesus Christ. Then, dedicate your life to fighting against the slaughter of these pre-born children, created in the image of God.
Self-Evident
God’s existence is self-evident (Romans 1.) The complexity and design inherent in life attest to it. You are not a cosmic accident — the universe wasn’t spawned by mere chance. Turn to the God who values both you and the preborn, not to the false gods of opportunity and success that demand the bloody sacrifice of innocent persons.
Call to the Governor
In conclusion, Governor Whitmer, even if 99 percent of Michiganders stand with you, what is right remains right, and what is evil is unequivocally evil. We call on you to repent, acknowledge Jesus Christ as King, and protect the lives of Michigan’s preborn children by abolishing abortion.
